I had really high hopes for this movie since the Alien movie series got pretty watered down with Alien Vs Predator.
In preparation for seeing Prometheus, I popped in the 1979 version of Alien which was and still is an absolute masterpiece.
I was extremely disappointed in this movie as I like really dark Sci-fi and relate a lot of my tastes to the Cinematography seen in the new Battlestar Galactica series.
I don’t want to ruin the move of anybody so I won’t go into details.
First off the movie was not “Dark” which is should have been as a prequel to Alien.
The first half of the movie took a long time to develop and the second part happened very quickly. It was like two movies.
Again….looking at this as a prequel the movie should have been a lot more “raw” as the technology used in this movie was much further advanced than in Alien making it totally unbelievable.
The monsters were almost a joke even though you find out who the “Jockey” is in the first Alien movie.
If I had to rank it compared to the other Alien movies, I’d have to say it’s dead last and that’s saying a lot since AVP was an adaptation of a comic book.
This one will be out of the movie theatre really quick so if you’re a fan of the big screen you better hurry.
